Warhammer 40k 'Blank' Files

#1  Postby hastybear » Tue Jan 27, 2015 6:25 pm

The latest iteration of 40K in Army builder tell me:

'Please ensure you read the 40k file FAQ in relation to the forthcoming 'blank' files.

I have followed all three links and cannot find a single reference to these files.

Aside from the fact that the FAQ says it is Edition 5 not Edition 7, there is no reference to any 'blank' files. Where can I read about them if the FAQ reference is incorrect? I assume they are important otherwise Wolflair wouldn't tell me I had to read them.

Help please!

Not sure what is going on. Go to C:\ProgramData\Army Builder\data and delete any AB40k* folders. Then launch Army Builder 3.x and Get Updates. The current file is "Warhammer 40,000 (7th Edition) (V1.13)" and download/install.

I have the latest updates, I maybe should have been clearer.

When you load wh40k on Army builder, you always get a pop up screen after loading the data files. With the latest update the first sentence on that pop up is the sentence described previously. It tells you to get information on the 'blank' files from the ab40k.org FAQ page. Which I am assuming is this:

http://www.ab40k.org/faq/

It also tells you to get support for these files from, yup, you guessed it, ab40k.

It also gives you this link, which then unhelpfully redirects to the forums main page.

http://support.wolflair.com/index.php?n ... file=index

Now if you're tell me I'm being an idiot, or to ignore that message, that's fine, but it's confusing me! :?

Idiot? no! silly? maybe... JK.

It is safe to ignore. It looks like there were some untested edits.

The reference to the FAQ is actually to the one inside Army Builder - when the AB40k7 fileset is loaded, go to the Help menu and choose "Warhammer 40 000 7th Edition FAQ" which will open the current FAQ that ships with the files. The link here on the site is to a file that should be generated from that file, but I hadn't realised that the code that does this was never updated on the server when the files switched from 5th ed to 6th ed hence the 5th ed version; that's my fault, and I'll get it sorted out ASAP.

However, the latest FAQ doesn't mention the forthcoming blank files, so I can only assume that the entry wasn't added prior to release. Keep an eye out for the next file release where hopefully it'll turn up. Image
