Dark Eldar: Rules Queries

So,

Someone is stating that since the Court of the Archon is listed under HQ it can be taken without an Archon if you use an FOC slot. Does anyone buy this? I read the Retainer rule as a way to unlock the Court and not a loophole to get them without using a slot. Thoughts?

Re: Dark Eldar; Court without Archons?

Nope the wording states quite clearly that 'for each Archon included in a detachment, the detachment can include a Court of the Archon that does not take up a slot on the force organisation chart' so basically they go with the Archon. The idea of taking them as an HQ slot is a bit vague; it doesn't state that you can't. I wish they'd make this clear like other codices.

RAI - No, only with an Archon
RAW - I'd say yes, you can still take them as an HQ slot, due to the wording of the rule.

More than One Artefact?

#3  Postby Homer_S » Mon Nov 10, 2014 9:21 pm

Got another one.

Page 69 states "A model may take one of the following:" Can a character take more than one Artefact?

Well it does say "one" so guess they can only take one :)

Otherwise it would be worded "can take any of the following" for example.

Seems not all books have the same wording, Tyranids one for example allows more than 1 "artifact".

It seems we have the classic situation of large organisations; the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing. Or in this case Writer A not talking to Writer B so they end up using different wording conventions in their books. :)
