Rumoured Release Dates

#1  Postby Wraithlord » Sun Jan 07, 2007 5:29 am

Brimstone of Warseer had this to say about upcoming codices. He is usually fairly accurate so it bear repeating:

OK the above schedule is proving to be inaccurate, my latest estimate based on various information is below

2007
March - Dark Angels
Late Summer/UKGD - Codex Apocalypse
Q4/Christmas - Codex Chaos Vol. 1 - Undivided

2008
- Codex Orks
- Codex Dark Eldar
- Codex Space Marines Redux

TBC - Necrons
TBC - Blood Angels
TBC - Space Wolves
TBC - Ordo Xenos
TBC - Codex Chaos Vol. 2 - Khorne
TBC - Codex Chaos Vol. 3, 4 & 5 Nurgle / Tzeentch / Slaanesh

Again these are estimates only and should be taken with a healthy degree of scepticism

hmmmm, codex chaos: undivided ... interesting, but how long a wait is this predicting for khorne and the others :( and also how are they going to handle the legion armies etc in the meantime - that may seriously pee off a lot of gamers if their legion or god specific armies become redundant for a lot of months whilst waiting for a new book - but then again its a rumour so is a case of just waiting I suppose to see what happens

From what I hear, the Undivided book will allow us to make cult themed armies still so the cults won't be totally left in the dark. And then once the actual cult book(s) come out the legions will get a significant standalone codex, similar to what templars and DA are getting.

The Dark Angels army deal is up for preorder on the UK website for release on 2/17. That should make the codex release be 3/3.

Damn, and I've just started buying my Aeronautica squadrons, and yet more Death Korps ... and now it's Dark Angels time too! 8O

Although I don't like seeing the Orks pushed back yet again I don't think we will see Orks discontinued like the Squats were.

that would be a nail in the coffin imho, Orkz in space is what makes it 40K (again IMHO)
Space marines in all their glory are still just powerarmoured humans (ok superhumans but you get my point)
and chaos,, well they're evil humans, with demons..
nothing special there

I may be a little biased towards orkz tho, it's what got me into 40k.
so i'd really like to be able to put them on the table and believe i was up for an even fight
I do not seriously believe they will remove them either, but i think they're getting too little attention, besides dark eldar they are the race with the oldest codex, and DE got a serious update somewhere along the way:(

the ork 'dex is all over the place, it doesnt capture their character and the sub-armies are on pdf files and everything else ... it seriously needs a sort, I was really hoping it was going to be before 2008!
