1.35 Update

First, I'd like to thank you guys for all of your hard, unpaid work. So many people use Army Builder for 40k I wouldn't be surprised if it makes up a VAST majority of their downloads. I personally appreciate all the hard work.

That being said, can I ask a question without getting flamed or talked down to?

Why are the tool-tips and item descriptions for the new Necron update all "see C:NE p.XX"? In my honest opinion, that's lazy and low-quality data-file authoring when you compare it to the other data files that are fully fleshed out with the exception of some really wordy rules. What's the deal with this one? Was it more of an IP issue or what? Will later updates add to these "descriptions"?

PS: The Deathray on the Doom Scythe should have "special" added to how it works, because it's range isn't 12" as listed. It's 12" to 3D6", AND it has a special effect. Also, when you do the print preview of the army list, it says "XXXXpts - Necron" when it should be "Necrons". Can't help but feel that this data file update was done hastily at the last second, not during that 32 days. :(

A decision was taken some time ago to have all new codex lists have page references in order to reduce the amount of potentially IP infringing rules in the files, and therefore reducing the risk of GW taking legal action against us, but it hasn't been done restropectively to existing files that have had small tweaks. It is not laziness, and as you have suggested it is an IP issue. Later updates will not add to descriptions, they will gradually remove most/all of them to become page references across all files. This is a necessary evil I'm afraid, but in the long run we felt that it was better to have files available with page references rather than no files at all.

I guess maybe next time I should take more time in the effort. Of course, that means 10 years from now when the next Necron codex releases.

Also of note. I Haven't actually touched the data files for Necrons since before Thanksgiving. Real life and work come first by a very large margin. People will likely notice that the Apoc rules are not fully converted for the new codex(if really at all) as I am still working on those changes, however there are several parts of intended design that are hard to follow in Apoc due to it being how units existed in the old codex.

PlanĀ is to fully eliminate the old codex though in a upcoming release. Hopefully GW will get some good FAQs to help cover the questions I have on the Apoc units and formations.
