Need help changing the weapon selections for SM Sgt.

Hello,

I found some discussions abtout the Topic, that Space Marine Sgts. should be able to get additional melee and ranged weapons without loosing the boltpistol/bolter.

For me I would like to be able to keep the boltpistol and take additionally a second melee weapon.
So I tried to generate a new selection that allows me to select from the list of melee weapons. But I do not really understand how the system works.
I just managed now to translate some stuff to German.

Would someome explain how I can add a selection block for melee weapons?

Given that the GW hierarchy in my area have deemed that the Bolter-Chainsword- melee or ranged weapon swap is officially legal I too would like to know how to alter my copy of AB40k to reflect that.

If anyone can give us a quick outline it would be much appreciated.

You can swap the Bolter for a Chainsword, that's a melee weapon.

That's not actually the question mate. We want to know how to change the AB40k Data files to reflect that ability.

Sry, misunderstood u I think. I thought u meant u wanted to be able to swap bolter for melee won, which would be a chains word even in codex. I don't think there are any options besides that apart from the "illegal" power weapon swaps

Like I said mate we don't want to discuss the rule but rather make Army Builder allow you to swap Boltgun for Chainsword and then choose from the melle and ranged weapons lists.

It's not a rule question but a "How to" question.

There is no easy way to modify the files to allow this sort of double swap. you can however extrapolate the rule and modify the files to allow you to just simply swap the first weapon for a chainsword (free) or any option also allowed for either that weapon or a chainsword. This shoul be relativly easy to complete and your best to review the existing mechanisms for swapping gear and the Lonewolf site for additional ABCreator support.

Hello Together,

I tried a Little bit and created a Space Marine Definition file which as a new independent melee weapon Option block allowing to choose melee weapons. Independent means there is no consistency check with the other Options. But with These files the following is possible:

Deselect bolt-pistol and take ranged weapon. Select additional melee weapon. in my files it would be possible to have 3 weapons but if you are fair you will deselect bolter as well when e.g. configuring sgt with power weapon and ranged weapon.

Currently it works for tactical Sgt. and Devastor sgt.

I tried it mate but it doesn't quite work the way I need it to.

Really what I need to be able to do is deselect the boltgun and then choose weapons from the Ranged or Melee table.

It's as simple as that.

You are right this does not work in my files. When I have time I can add this possiblity.
